Encounter Lakes and Franklin Island have 14 parks within their boundaries, ranging from the very significant John W Crompton Reserve on Tabernacle Road to Franklin Island’s Simmons Park to the CM Thorpe Reserve on Bartel Boulevard and the Horrie Mayfield Park as the centre feature of Cutter Circuit. There are also a number of smaller parks scattered throughout the Lakes’ area.
Although park maintenance is a Council responsibility, ELRGI has an active gardening group that assists in maintaining the various parks. Under Council supervision the Gardening Group is involved in a wide range of activities that includes pruning, mulching and weeding.
All parties agree that the strong relationship between Council and the Gardening Group is a definite benefit to the area we call home.
If you are interested in giving an hour or two each month, please call, email or submit contact form to the Gardening Co-ordinator.
